Recently retired, Darlene G. Miller, Ed.D., spent 13 years as the CEO and Executive Director of the National Council for Workforce Education (NCWE). When Dr. Miller took the helm at NCWE, the organization was in organizational and financial distress. Through her leadership, NCWE blossomed into a fiscally sound, nonprofit organization that is acknowledged as the national organization for workforce education. As CEO/ED, she managed, supervised and directed the operations of the Council and any other related entities that the Council may establish in the future. She was also responsible for supporting the development of partnerships between NCWE and other public and private sector organizations to advance the mission of NCWE. As such, she developed grants and partnerships with several national initiatives. She wrote and managed these initiatives serving as a Technical Assistance Provider, Coach, and Leadership Development Expert for: Accelerating Opportunities, Building Community Partnerships to Serve Immigrant Workers, Breaking Through, Gulf Coast IT TAACCCT Grant, Wisconsin Technical College System Career Pathways Initiative, and several others. Dr. Miller wrote the initial grant to JPMorgan Chase for the Money Smart Financial Coaching Program (MSFCP) and provided grant management and oversight.

Dr. Miller has over 25 years’ experience working in community colleges with expertise both as a faculty member and as an administrator in workforce and economic development. Prior to joining NCWE, she served as President of Manchester Community College (MCC) in New Hampshire. Dr. Miller has a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and a Doctorate in Higher Education, Policy, Research and Administration from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA.
